Fixed oils:
calendula (Infused)- healing
hazelnut-slightly astringent
jojoba - much like sebum, helps control the production of sebum
seabuckthorn- particularly for healing of wounds which makes it wonderful
for acne scars
neem - anti bacterial, good for acne
st. johns wort - antiseptic and skin tightner
coconut - good because it is not greasy and does not clog pores
peach kernel - light oil, good for sensitive skin too
evening primrose- helps prevent growth of bacteria, great for acne
Vitamin E oil - heals acne
Tamanu-healing
Essential oils:
benzoin- treats acne (some claim it is an irritant and should not be used
on skin)
bergemot- for treating acne
cedarwood atlas-antiseptic and astringent
fir silver-antiseptic and astringent
helichrysum- healing to acne and scars
lavendar-disinfectant, antiseptic, antiviral, bactericide, fungicide
listea cubeba-astringent
lemon- germicidal (photosensitizer)antiseptic, astringent
lemon grass-astringent (use sparingly and away from mucus membranes)
lime-much like lemon
mellissa/lemon balm- use in small doses
myrrh-antiseptic and astringent
myrtle-Antiseptic & astringent,
tee tree-antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal,
cypress- astringent
neroli- balancing to skin
niaouli-healing, related to tea tree
pink grapefruit-antiseptic and disinfectant
mandarin-antiseptic
palmarosa-balances skin
sage (well diluted)
rosemary-controls oil

Mature Skin:
Mature Skin- Mature skin is usually, but not always dry. This
skin type may have damage or be showing signs of aging. This skin type tends
to loose it's elasticity and moisture.
Mature skin needs vitamins (particularly C & E), minerals, nutrients,
restorative/regenerative properties, antiwrinkle, antioxidants and fatty
acids (just to name a few things). The listing below is based on the above
criteria.
Note: Oils rich in vitamins C, E(alpha-tocopherol) and beta carotenes(a
form of vitamin A), have antioxidant properties, (also green tea, ascorbic
acids and citric acid) these protect the skin from free radical damage.

Butters:
Apricot Butter (look under oils)
Kokum Butter-
reduces degeneration and restores elasticity.
Mango Butter (may help protect against sun damage) may prevent drying
of the skin and wrinkle formation, may be better for mature, dry skin
types.
Sal Butter (may help protect against sun damage) emollient, may prevent
drying of the skin, may be better for mature dry skin types.
Shea Butter-High in EFA's, repairs cell damage, skin elasticity, gives
some sun protection.
Essential Oils:
Carrot seed - Repairs skin, tones skin, prevents wrinkles, stimulates
circulation, Balances skin so it is great for all skin types.
Frankincense- rejuvinates mature skin. Helps skin that looks pale or sallow.
Helichysum- Skin regenerating and antiinflamatory. Said to heal even old
scars.
Myrrh (use only a little especially if you have dry skin)- Helps maintain
a youthful skin tone, astringent
Neroli- Regenerates skin, balances skin.
Palmarosa- Good for all skin types, revitalizes, said to heal stretch
marks.
Patchouli- Antiwrinkle, pore tightner. Best for oily skin as it can help
balance it. Said to help heal cracked and rough skin. May help reduce
the apperance of cellulite.
Rose- (see oil above)
Sandalwood - While it acts as an astrigent on oily skin, it also helps
dry cracked skin (use only a little especially if you have dry skin until
you know how it will react to you)
Spikenard (particularly if you have skin ailments) - Said to have a balancing
effect on skin and will add vitality to mature skin.
